Identification of Surface mount Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Surface mount aluminum electrolytic capacitors are naturally made of aluminum for both the positive and negative electrodes, which contain liquid electrolyte. The positive electrode is also made of a curved piece of aluminum material. After undergoing direct current voltage treatment in the production process, a layer of oxide film is formed on the positive electrode sheet as a dielectric. Its characteristics are large capacity, but high leakage, poor stability, positive and negative polarity, suitable for power filtering or low-frequency circuits.
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are labeled with both capacity and rated operating voltage, which are important parameters for selecting capacitors.
In the actual selection of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, larger capacitors should be used for areas with fast current changes, but larger capacitors are not necessarily better. Firstly, as the capacity increases, costs and volume may increase. Additionally, larger capacitors require higher charging currents and longer charging cycles

Characteristics of Surface mount Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Feature 1:The capacitance per unit volume is very large, tens to hundreds of times larger than other types of capacitors.

Feature 2:The rated capacity can be very large, easily reaching tens of thousandsμ f or even several f (but not comparable to double-layer capacitance).

Feature Three:The price has an overwhelming advantage over other types because the constituent materials of electrolytic capacitors are ordinary industrial materials, such as aluminum, etc. The equipment for manufacturing electrolytic capacitors is also ordinary industrial equipment that can be produced on a large scale with relatively low costs.

Principle of Surface mount Electrolytic Capacitor

Electrolytic capacitors are usually made of metal foil (aluminum/tantalum) as the positive electrode, and the insulating oxide layer of the metal foil (aluminum oxide/tantalum pentoxide) as the dielectric. Electrolytic capacitors are divided into aluminum electrolytic capacitors and tantalum electrolytic capacitors based on their different positive electrodes
